For the Men, and the Women Who Love Them
I was honoured and thrilled when my submission was accepted for this anthology, edited by the wonderful Rose Caraway, and today I am excited that it is now published.
I am included in a hugely talented group of writers, and I am so pleased about being in this great line up. The twenty five contributors are:
Emmanuelle de Maupassant, Adrea Kore, Tamsin Flowers, Rachel Kramer Bussel, Allen Dusk, Jade A. Waters, Terrance Aldon Shaw, Rachel de Vine, Dorothy Freed, D.L.King, Chase Morgan, Charlie Powell, Landon Dixon, Sonni de Soto, D. Lovejoy, Erin Pim, J.T. Seate, Spencer Dryden, Marc Angel, Winter Blair, Simon Drax, Lynn Lake, Josie Jordan, Daily Francis Hollow, and T.J. Christian.
Not only is the e-book available, but there will soon be an audio version, narrated by the velvet toned voice of the Editor herself, Rose Caraway, with the invaluable assistance of her husband, Dayv Caraway. If you haven’t heard Rose narrate a story, you have really missed a treat.
I chose, for my contribution, a short story of a female hitchhiker who has an uninhibited and joyful attitude to both life and sex, and her trip with a British truck driver, on his way to Paris, a story that was once featured in a longer version on this blog.
Here’s a short excerpt:
As soon as the cab door closed, he put the vehicle into gear and pulled away from the side of the road.
“So you are not going anywhere in particular?” he asked.
“Not really, although I hope to end up in Portugal at some time in the future. In the meantime I plan to go where the fancy takes me. How about you?”
“I’m taking chilled food to Paris, staying overnight, and then loading up with more goods to bring back to England. Not as exciting as your plans.”
“Oh I’m sure it has its compensations. Do you pick up many women on the road like this?”
She turned and a hint of suggestion flashed over her face. Or was it just wishful thinking on his part?
“What’s your name?”
“Jezebel. Jez for short.”
“No, not really. But it will do for now.”
“Right. Well then I will call myself…what name shall I use? Any suggestions?”
“How about Hermes? He was the Greek god of the roadways and travellers.”
“Okay, and what was Jezebel famous for, other than being rather flighty?”
“She was a Queen of Israel, but unfortunately she misbehaved and was thrown to her death from a tower and eaten by dogs.”
“That doesn’t sound a good omen for you then, but as I’m Hermes, the God of travellers, I’ll take care of you.”
“Why that is very kind of you. Would you like me to take care of you in return?”
He glanced at her quickly, unsure how exactly to interpret that remark, and was met by a cheeky smile and a wet tongue running over the most kissable lips he had seen for a while. Oh well, nothing ventured…
The writer, Terrance Aldon Shaw, who is one of the contributors, has written an interesting and insightful interview with Rose Caraway, on his Erotica for the Big Brain website, which is well worth reading. Find it here.
I do hope you buy and enjoy this thrilling anthology.
